The Eagles Summer Event 
Every year the first Sunday of August we organise The Eagles Summer
Event: a Western show at and around The Eagles Ranch, situated
in the middle of Texel.
Traditional market
At 10 a.m. the gates of The Eagles Ranch open to the public who
are warmly welcomed to the traditional market in Western style.
 
Country life style
Lots of country life style products are for sale at the traditional
market.
Workshops and demonstrations
There are various demonstrations to be watched at the stalls.
Children as well as their parents can participate in short workshops
such as:
- making your own candles;
- making your own Indian bracelet or chain, a plate and lots
of other stuff!
Children have a field day!
 Children
have a good time on the huge yellow castle trampoline or they can
have their faces made-up like a lion or tiger!
  Clowns
Bimo the clown visits the Summer Event to entertain young and
old.
Blacksmith
The blacksmith shows us how a horse's hoofs are being shoed. He
forges a piece of iron to a horse-shoe and shoes a horse with it
on the spot.
Sheepshearer
The sheepshearer shears a number of Texel sheep
which are bred on the Eagles Ranch. He explains the different
applications of wool and how wool fat is used to make cosmetic
products and other products for external care.

These external care products can be used for both man and horse
and are available at The Eagles Ranch all through the year.
Horse demonstrations
In the outer rings demonstrations are held in
various diciplines of western
riding, such as Trail, Barrelracing and the Western Pleasure.
These often spectacular demonstrations are held at different times
through the day so as to give the horses enough time to recover
and to enable you to prepare for the next demonstration.
Dog demonstrations
At
the Summer Event there is a mixture of horse and dog demonstrations
which are being held by D.O.S. a well-known demonstation team on
Texel.
There are dog demonstrations in dexterity, skill and surveillance.
The saloon
There is a western saloon for coffee and apple pie and especially
for the children there candy and crisps are available.
From the saloon you have a good view at various Eagles Ranch horses
in the stables. You will find various breeding mares with their
foals, one of the breeding stallions and various elder offspring
of the ranch's breeding horses.
Horse's dentist
The horses that are in the stables are checked
up by the horse's dentist who explains her work to the audience
and will answer questions. You might also try and feel a horse's
mouth yourself !!
Keeping horses
 The
veterinary surgeon's practice on
Texel gives information on how to take care of your horse.
Important for horses is:
- Good nutrition
- Regularly worming your horse
- Attending to any possible wounds
- If you are in doubt always ask a vet !!
Texel products
Outside, surrounding the terrace, there are various stalls selling
delicious real Texel products to have a nice lunch. Products such
as:
- farmer's icecream
- Texel strawberries
- delicious rolls with fresh fish
- saté and hamburgers
Mechanic bull
There is also a mechanic bull for the real dare-devils among us.
For those who'd like to experience what it is like to be a cowboy
in a rodeo show!!
A Country & Western band plays live music on the terrace and
of course you're very welcome to join in and dance along.
In the afternoon the Texel Line Dancers will give a show in style!
